Thanks for calling the other day. I hope you and your family had a great Christmas. I'm looking forward to the New Year and the new things you're working on.
As I said, things are slow and I know it's the holiday season. During the month of December I managed to get 8 vehicles to do. I'm pleased to say they all turned out great. But then I had a great teacher!
I figure during the month of December I've put out 50+ Flyers and Business Cards. The response hasn't been great with them. I've used this slow time to work on better promotion products. I'm always looking at how I can do things better.
After doing the vehicles that day with you, there were several things I picked up on. That got me thinking. Doing vehicles away from where people could see us wasn't as good a having others see the work being done and the end results. The people we did the work for were amazed. I feel if the vehicles were where others could see the work being done and the amazing end result, it could only promote business. This is something I beleve wholeheartedly... "Seeing Is Believing."
The second thing was the people coming up behind us and asking what we were doing. This is where I thought about the shirts. The polo shirts are good looking, but here's my thought; if I'm doing a vehicle where others can see what I'm doing, my back is to them as I am facing the vehicle. The name of the company on the front of the shirt is small and not easily seen. However, if I put my name on the back of the shirt, it can be larger and easy to see.
So with that in mind, I went to several shirt shops. To my surprise all agreed embroidery with large letters would be heavy and costly - around $28.00 each. I did find one shop that showed me vinyl lettering and explained the difference between screen print lettering, embroidery lettering, and vinyl lettering. The screen printing shirts required a one time set up charge and then a processing charge. Most shops had a minimum of 25 shirts per order. The embroidery lettering could only be done on 100% cotton, and a minimum of 12 shirts per order, for a cost of around $25.00 each. The vinyl letters can be large and come in different styles and they are done on 50/50 material. They can be machine washed and dried. the 50/50 material is comfortable, wears longer, and is much cooler. Cooler may not be important in cold climates, but here in Florida I believe it's important. There was no minimum order - I was able to purchase 6 shirts in 4 days at a cost of $18.00 each. How do they hold up to wear and washing? The company's reply was simply turn the shirts inside out when you wash and dry them.
Now that I had found the design for the shirt, I needed a color. Because I wanted to be "Seen, Not Heard" I found a golden yellow shirt and had large, bold black lettering put on the back ...

I have a reason for all of this. Not only do I want to be seen, I want to look professional when I'm in the field. I carried this even further and ordered a black ball cap with Headlight Haze Repair done in yellow/gold lettering on the front ...

If you don't see my name on the back of my shirt, when I turn around it is on the front of my cap. Just one step further ... I bought black pants with the large pockets. I carry business cards and some bifold flyers that I can give out that help explain a little about Headlight Haze Repair. Whenever I go out, I wear my uniform. Some may think it's too much, but I can tell you - 95% of my business now comes from my uniform and my van lettering.

The third and last thing is each and every customer is important to me, no matter what kind of car they drive. I treat each customer's vehicle as it were my own vehicle. You can walk the walk and talk the talk, but in the end CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SHOULD BE FIRST! A satisfied customer will do more for you and your business than any sign, lettering, colors, etc. We should always remember this.
