Our Professional Service -VS- Do-It-Yourself-Kits
We have had many questions about the increasing number of dealers selling Do-It-Yourself-Kits and products over the internet and in automotive retal stores. These kits have been around for a while, yet the problem with foggy headlights still remains.
We have purchased and used a number of these kits and products on the market today. We have yet to find a product that will work or even come close to the having the results our process has on cleaning the lens. The difference is that our process brings the plastic lens close to its original finish, whereas most kits simply paint a "clear-coat" type polymer finish on the lens to make it shine. We have also found that some headlight manufacturers put a clear coat finish on the lens in an effort to prevent "hazing" from occurring. However, this eventually begins to crack like an eggshell. Also you will find that many body repair shops will paint a clear coat on the lens to try to make it look better. This will eventually start cracking as well.
These Do-It-Yourself-Kits and products, that claim you can restore your headlights yourself, range in price from as low as $4.99 to over $100. First you have to buy them. Then you have to learn how to use them. As soon as you begin, you are putting yourself and your car at risk due to the chemicals used. Then, you have to just hope you did it right. Chances are your headlights will look shiny for about 6 months. If the kit required you to put a clear coat finish on your lights, you will begin to notice that it is cracking. Once this happens it is nearly impossible to get the lens clear again.
Personally, I would not take that chance with my car.
